Children are once again in food distress in the Tanjomoha region.

We are here to help

In order to combat malnutrition in the Tanjomoha region, Father Emeric asked us to intervene with an exceptional contribution of 250,000 meals to save children in food distress.

At the last minute, we were able to change our intervention plans for the far south of Madagascar.

On October 31, 2024, we rushed a 40″ container from New York to Tamatave in Madagascar, with a final destination of Tanjomoha.

The SS HARTFORD accompanies our hopes of arriving in time to save these children.

The container is expected to arrive in the first few days of January.

But we’re already working on shipping an additional 250,000 meals to counter the famine in the state of Androy.

We hope to be able to do this in the next few days from Los Angeles.

We’ll soon be notifying Father Gaston and the 250 Sisters of Charity who are currently distributing and repartitioning our latest shipment, which reached them a few weeks ago.

35TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AKAMASOA HUMANITARIAN ASSOCIATION

35TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AKAMASOA HUMANITARIAN ASSOCIATION

35TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AKAMASOA HUMANITARIAN ASSOCIATION

OCTOBER 20, 2024

A path of life and hope

On October 20, 2024, the AKAMASOA Humanitarian Association, founded by Father Pedro OPEKA, celebrated its 35th anniversary, under the poignant slogan “ROSO NY DIA. AINA NO FETRA” (The road goes on, life is the only limit). This landmark anniversary was an opportunity to look back on three decades of struggle against poverty, but above all to look to the future with hope and determination.

The day began with an emotional mass, bringing together thousands of people to honour this great work. Every prayer, every song was an ode to solidarity and resilience, values that define the very essence of the Association. Hearts were united, carried by the conviction that as long as there is life, animated by the power of the Spirit, there is hope. In the afternoon, the celebration continued with ensemble movements presented by the young people of Akamasoa, from the Mahatsara, Manantenasoa and Andralanitra centers.

These young people, the future of the Nation, offered performances of great beauty, symbolizing the strength, unity and perseverance of an entire community. Each of their performances was a reminder that education and mutual aid are the pillars for building a better future.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the President of the Republic of Madagascar, accompanied by his wife, as well as numerous Ambassadors, Ministers, Partners and Friends of the Association. Their presence testified to the support and recognition that the Association inspires, both nationally and internationally.

In their speeches, Father Pedro and the President underlined the importance of supporting young people in preparing for their future. They also reminded us that the fight against poverty is a collective battle, requiring the involvement of each and every one of us. “The journey we began 35 years ago continues. It is made up of courage, work and love. Together, we’ll go even further,” said Father Pedro, his eyes filled with the same passion that has driven him for so many years.

This 35th anniversary was a moment of wonder and great joy. It reminded everyone that there’s still a long way to go, but that together, nothing is impossible. As long as life goes on, the hopes and dreams of the young people of Akamasoa will continue to grow.

Here are just a few of the photos that marked this unforgettable day (full images may take several minutes to load, depending on quality and server load):

Here are the results: the children have a roof over their heads and are in school, they benefit from health care and are confident about their future.

But… many are still standing on the side of the road waiting for Father Pedro… Waiting for us and… Waiting for you

“MAHATAZANA PRIMARY SCHOOLOctober 03, 2024

Father Pedro visited all the schools in Akamasoa to meet the pupils of the Primary School, Middle School and High School!

He was received with great joy, and the joy was mutual.
In all the schools, he exhorted the pupils to respect each other, to help each other, and to live in a spirit of truth and brotherhood.

He also spoke of the rights and duties that students have in all schools.
He encouraged them to renounce all violence between students and to be conciliatory with one another.
He also praised students for loving their studies, for being serious and concentrated during all school hours.
To respect and love nature and the environment, as well as cleanliness in schools and in their homes.
He encouraged sport, which helps young people to distance themselves from an easy life and other addictions.

He appealed to all pupils to respect civic-mindedness, which is required of every citizen if they are to live in society in harmony, solidarity and peace.
Father Pedro insisted on mutual respect between boys and girls in every Akamasoa school.

He told them: “You have come to study and prepare for your future, be responsible and respect the discipline of our schools, which is a help to all students”.

Pedro thanked the young people for their love of prayer and for following the model of Jesus, who left us just one commandment

“Love one another”.

He also told us:

“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for the one one loves”. And that only “Truth will make us free”.

Father asked all students to respect all educators and teachers.
All school visits ended with a blessing and a song of thanksgiving.
All students and teachers returned happily to their classrooms to continue their studies.
